One of our favorite tasting appointments of the year is when we sit down with Elisa Scavino and taste through an amazing lineup of Barolo. For nearly a century, the Scavino family has been building a relationship with the land in Piedmont. Over the years, they have been dedicated to perfecting multiple terroir-focused, single-vineyard Barolo expressions through meticulous farming and vineyard management.

Our most recent tastings of Paolo Scavino wines we’re of the highly regarded 2016 vintage of Barolo. This growing season was delighted with a warm, dry summer and has been kindly compared to the impressive 2004 and 2001 vintages. This year’s growing conditions proved to be particularly well-suited for the Nebbiolo grape, giving them ample time to ripen. The 2016 vintage for Barolo was as close to perfect as possible, resulting in beautiful aromatics and impressive balance.
