F&L PIllot’s origin story starts in the vineyards of Chassagne…as coopers. Like their cousins at Domaine Jean-Marc Pillot, this father and son team moved out of barrel-making to the vineyard. Then out of the village itself and into the surrounding environs of Chassagne-Montrachet. In the mid-1990s, with a new winery finished and the legacy well in hand, Fernand Pillot looked at his 28-year-old son and said “From now on you will make the wine. I will stay in the vineyards.” Thus, Laurent Pillot became the latest generation of Burgundy winemakers at the helm of balancing stewardship of the land, modernization of the cellar, and honoring of the tradition.
